About the Working Days Calculator

The Working Days Calculator counts the number of working days between two dates while allowing you to choose which days are considered weekends and manually exclude holidays.

Both the start date and end date are included in the calculation. You can use a Saturday–Sunday weekend, Friday–Saturday weekend, Sunday-only weekend, or choose no weekend days.

Holidays can also be entered manually when they need to be excluded from the working-day total. WebToola does not automatically load a country-specific public holiday calendar.

How to Calculate Working Days Between Two Dates

Enter your start date and end date, then select the weekend pattern that applies to your schedule.

Available weekend options include:

  • Saturday and Sunday
  • Friday and Saturday
  • Sunday only
  • No weekend

If you also need to exclude holidays, enter each holiday on a separate line using the YYYY-MM-DD format.

The calculator will show the number of working days, the total number of calendar days, and how many applicable weekday holidays were excluded.

For example, a calculation might return:

20 working day(s)
30 calendar day(s), both dates included
2 weekday holiday(s) excluded

This means the full date range contains 30 calendar days, but after excluding the selected weekend days and two entered holidays that fall on otherwise working days, 20 working days remain.

How Are Working Days Calculated?

The calculator begins with every calendar date from the start date through the end date, including both dates.

It then excludes dates that fall on your selected weekend days. Any manually entered holidays that fall on an otherwise working day within the date range are also excluded.

Conceptually:

Working days = Included calendar days − Weekend days − Applicable weekday holidays

The exact result therefore depends not only on the date range, but also on the weekend pattern and holidays you provide.

Are the Start and End Dates Included?

Yes. The Working Days Calculator includes both the start date and end date when counting the date range.

For example, a range from Monday through Friday of the same week contains five calendar dates when both endpoints are included. If none of those dates is a selected weekend day or entered holiday, all five can count as working days.

This differs from calculations that measure only the elapsed time between two dates, so the counting method is important when comparing results between tools.

If you need the number of calendar days between two dates instead, WebToola’s Date Difference Calculator lets you choose between elapsed days and including both dates.

Choose the Weekend Days That Apply to You

Not every work schedule uses Saturday and Sunday as the weekend. For that reason, WebToola lets you select the weekend pattern rather than assuming one schedule for everyone.

For example, you can calculate using Saturday and Sunday, Friday and Saturday, Sunday only, or no weekend.

Choosing No weekend means dates are not excluded merely because of their day of the week. Manually entered holidays can still affect the result where applicable.

How to Exclude Holidays

If holidays should not count as working days, enter them manually in the Holidays field using one YYYY-MM-DD date per line.

For example:

2026-09-10
2026-09-21

A holiday reduces the working-day count when it falls within the selected date range and would otherwise be counted as a working day.

The calculator reports weekday holidays excluded separately, helping you see how entered holidays affected the result.

Why Are Holidays Entered Manually?

WebToola does not automatically load a public holiday calendar for a particular country or region.

Holiday schedules vary between countries, regions, organizations and workplaces, and not every user observes the same dates. Manual entry lets you specify the dates relevant to your calculation without the calculator assuming a particular holiday calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate working days between two dates?

Enter the start and end dates, choose your weekend days, and optionally enter holidays to exclude. The calculator counts the dates in the range, including both endpoints, and removes applicable weekend days and entered weekday holidays.

Does the Working Days Calculator include the start and end dates?

Yes. Both the start date and end date are included in the calculation.

Can I use Friday and Saturday as weekend days?

Yes. You can select Friday and Saturday as your weekend pattern. Other options include Saturday and Sunday, Sunday only, and no weekend.

Can I calculate working days without excluding weekends?

Yes. Select No weekend if you do not want any dates excluded based on their day of the week.

Does the calculator automatically include public holidays?

No. No country-specific holiday calendar is loaded. You need to manually enter any holidays you want the calculator to consider.

What format should I use for holidays?

Enter holidays in YYYY-MM-DD format, with one date per line.

For example:

2026-09-10
2026-09-21

What happens if a holiday falls on a weekend?

A holiday that already falls on one of your selected weekend days does not need to reduce the working-day total again. The calculator’s weekday-holiday count represents entered holidays excluded from days that would otherwise be working days.

What is the difference between working days and calendar days?

Calendar days include every date in the range. Working days exclude the selected weekend days and applicable manually entered holidays.

Is this the same as the Date Difference Calculator?

No. The Working Days Calculator is designed to exclude selected weekend days and manually entered holidays. The Date Difference Calculator counts calendar days and lets you choose between elapsed days or including both dates.

Does WebToola store the dates or holidays I enter?

No. The Working Days Calculator runs in your browser and does not send or save your inputs.
