About the Discount Calculator

The Discount Calculator helps you quickly calculate the price of an item after a percentage discount and see exactly how much you save.

Enter the original price and discount percentage, and the calculator will show the discounted final price and your total savings. You can use any currency as long as you use the same currency throughout the calculation.

The calculator applies a single percentage discount to the original price before any taxes or additional charges.

How to Use the Discount Calculator

Enter the original price of the item followed by the discount percentage being offered. Select Calculate to see the final price after the discount and the amount you save.

For example:

Original price: 100
Discount: 20%

The result is:

Final price: 80
You save: 20

So, an item originally priced at 100 with a 20% discount costs 80 after the discount, saving you 20 in the same currency.

How to Calculate a Discount

To calculate the amount saved, multiply the original price by the discount percentage divided by 100:

Discount amount = Original price × (Discount % ÷ 100)

For an original price of 100 with a 20% discount:

100 × (20 ÷ 100) = 20

Then subtract the discount amount from the original price:

Final price = Original price − Discount amount

So:

100 − 20 = 80

The final price is 80, and the amount saved is 20.

What Does 20% Off Mean?

A 20% discount means that 20% of the original price is deducted from the price you pay.

For example, if something costs 250, a 20% discount saves you 50:

250 × 20% = 50

The discounted price would therefore be:

250 − 50 = 200

The same calculation works regardless of currency. For example, an original price of $100, £100, €100 or another currency amount will all become 80 units of that currency after a 20% discount.

When Is a Discount Calculator Useful?

A discount calculator can be useful when comparing sale prices, promotional offers and percentage discounts while shopping online or in stores. It lets you quickly see the actual amount you’ll save rather than estimating a percentage mentally.

It can also help when comparing different discounts on products with different original prices. Keep in mind that this calculator applies one discount only and does not include taxes, shipping fees or other additional charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate a percentage discount?

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage divided by 100. This gives you the amount saved. Subtract that amount from the original price to get the discounted price.

How much is 20% off $100?

A 20% discount on $100 is $20, so the final price is $80 before any applicable taxes or additional charges.

Can I use any currency with the Discount Calculator?

Yes. The calculator doesn’t require a specific currency. Simply use the same currency for the original price and the resulting values.

Does the Discount Calculator include tax?

No. The calculator applies a single percentage discount to the original price before taxes or other additional charges.

Can I calculate multiple or stacked discounts?

No. This calculator is designed to calculate a single percentage discount. Multiple sequential discounts require separate calculations and are not equivalent to simply adding the percentages together.

Does WebToola store the prices I enter?

No. The Discount Calculator runs in your browser and does not send or save the values you enter.
