About the Date Difference Calculator

The Date Difference Calculator calculates the number of calendar days between two dates. Enter a start date and an end date to find the difference in days, along with the equivalent number of full weeks and remaining days.

You can choose between counting the standard elapsed days between the dates or including both the start and end dates. The calculation is based on calendar dates and is independent of daylight saving time changes.

How to Calculate Days Between Two Dates

Enter your start date and end date, then choose how you want the dates to be counted.

Select No — elapsed days to calculate the number of days that have elapsed from the start date to the end date. Select Yes — include both dates when you want both the starting and ending dates included in the total.

For example, from September 1, 2026 to October 13, 2026:

Elapsed days

42 calendar days
6 full weeks and 0 days

Including both dates

43 calendar days
6 full weeks and 1 day

Including both dates adds one day to the standard elapsed-day calculation.

Elapsed Days vs. Including Both Dates

The correct counting method depends on what you’re trying to measure.

Elapsed days measure the amount of time between two calendar dates. For example, September 1 to September 2 represents one elapsed day.

Including both dates counts each date in the range. September 1 through September 2 therefore counts as two calendar days.

This distinction can be useful when counting days for events, schedules, trips or other date ranges where the first and last day may both need to be included.

Calendar Days and Full Weeks

The calculator counts calendar days, meaning every date in the period is considered regardless of whether it falls on a weekday, weekend or holiday.

The result also expresses the total as full weeks plus remaining days. Because a week contains seven calendar days, 42 days equals exactly 6 full weeks, while 43 days equals 6 full weeks and 1 additional day.

If you specifically need to count weekdays or working days rather than all calendar days, use WebToola’s Working Days Calculator instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?

Enter a start date and an end date into the calculator. It will calculate the number of calendar days between them and show the result as both total days and full weeks plus remaining days.

Does the calculator include the end date?

You can choose. Select elapsed days for the standard difference between the two dates, or select include both dates to count both the start and end dates.

What is the difference between calendar days and working days?

Calendar days include every day in the date range, including Saturdays and Sundays. Working days generally exclude weekends and may use additional rules depending on the calculation. Use the Working Days Calculator when you need to count working days instead.

Are daylight saving time changes included?

The calculator works with calendar dates rather than measuring elapsed clock hours, so daylight saving time changes do not alter the calendar-day difference.

Does WebToola store the dates I enter?

No. The Date Difference Calculator runs in your browser and does not send or save the dates you enter.
